IOWA CITY, Iowa – 21st- ranked Iowa got off to a hot start on Sunday afternoon and did not look back, downing Evansville by a score of 119-43 at Carver-Hawkeye Arena. The Hawkeyes shot a blistering 64.6% from the field to take the win.

Purple Aces Graduate Assistant Molly Davis was honored in her return to Carver-Hawkeye Arena, having been a key piece in Iowa's back-to-back national championship appearances in 2023 and 2024.

Logan Luebbers Palmer (Union, Ky./Randall K. Cooper) scored in double figures for the seventh time in her career, leading the Aces with 12 points. Camryn Runner (Cicero, Ind./Hamilton Heights) added 10 points and tallied a team-high three assists. 12 different players saw the floor for Evansville.

Iowa jumped out to a 9-0 lead in the first 2:11 of action, but an and-one by Luebbers Palmer and layups by Runner and Georgia Ferguson (Waterloo, Ontario/Cairine Wilson Secondary School) helped the Aces battle back to make it 11-7. However, a 16-0 run for the Hawkeyes helped the home team build a 29-10 lead at the end of the first quarter.

Luebbers Palmer continued her hot shooting in the second quarter, making two more shots from distance to run her total to the half to three, while freshman Jelena Savic (Melbourne, Australia/Kurunjang Secondary College) scored the first four points of her career. In the final three minutes of the quarter, Iowa used another run to take a 59-22 advantage into halftime.

The third quarter saw another Purple Aces' freshman enter the scoring column, as Iowa native Sydney Huber (Cedar Rapids, Iowa/Mount Vernon) knocked down a three-pointer for her first collegiate basket. However, the Aces were limited to three field goals as Iowa opened up a 90-30 lead.

From there, the Hawkeyes continued to cruise en route to the win. Odessa College transfer Mireia Mustaros (Barcelona, Spain) scored her first points as an Ace in the quarter, knocking down a three-pointer and a free throw to notch her first points at the DI level.

The Aces return to action on Wednesday with another road test, this time at Eastern Kentucky. Tip-off from Richmond, Ky. is set for 6 PM.

Allie Lammers (Cincinnati, Ohio/Mount Notre Dame) emerged as one of the top goalkeepers in the MVC this year to earn Third Team all-conference accolades. Serving as Evansville's primary keeper, Lammers posted a 6-4-2 record with five shutouts in 13 matches. Lammers ranked inside the top 100 nationally in goals against average (1.00), the lowest mark by a UE primary starter since 2020. For the year, the sophomore made 46 saves for a .793 save percentage, including eight matches with four-plus saves. Over the course of the season, Lammers earned three MVC Goalkeeper of the Week awards, the most by a Valley keeper this season while marking the first time an Evansville keeper has been named MVC Goalkeeper three times in a single season since Simone Busby in 2014.

Lily Kytasaari (Platte City, Mo./Platte County) lands on the MVC All-Freshman Team following a stellar debut season with the Purple Aces. Playing in all 16 matches with one start, Kytasaari logged 498 minutes and scored two goals, becoming one of four Aces to score multiple goals on the season. With the nod, Kytasaari becomes Evansville's first All-Freshman team selection since Hailey Autenrieb in 2021.

* Mroz Snags Second MVC Defensive Player of the Week Nod

ST. LOUIS – University of Evansville sophomore goalkeeper Michal Mroz (Elk Grove, Ill./Elk Grove) earned his second MVC Defensive Player of the Week award in the last four weeks on Tuesday afternoon, the league office announced. Mroz earns the award after posting 12 saves in wins over Louisville and Northern Illinois, including a season-high 10 saves in the win over the Huskies to help Evansville clinch a share of their first regular season conference title since 1991.

On Monday at Louisville, Mroz made two saves to help his team to a 3-1 win. The win was Evansville's first over a power conference opponent since 2013 and the first over the Cardinals in Louisville since 1991. Mroz continued to help the Aces make history on Friday with one of the best performances of his career, stopping 10 shots for his sixth clean sheet of the year. In six MVC matches this season, Mroz has recorded four shutouts and allowed only three goals.

Mroz ranks among both MVC and national leaders in multiple categories, ranking third in the MVC and 44th in the country in goals against average at .882 and is second in the MVC and 39th nationally with six shutouts. The Aces' keeper has been especially stout in conference play, maintaining a league-best .50 goals against average. Mroz also paces the conference in shutouts (4) and save percentage (.855) against MVC opposition.

Evansville wraps up the regular season on Wednesday, traveling to Nashville to take on Belmont. With a win or tie, Evansville would clinch the MVC regular season title outright. Kick-off is set for 6 PM.
