* Fall Conference 25 Year Service Awards / Berger Award

Congratulations to the newest recipient of the Sadelle and Sydney Berger Awards for Service and Award presented by Mr. Charlie Berger at the Fall Conference.

Dr. Lampkins, Associate Professor of Chemistry and Bob & Judy Wargel Endowed Chair, joined UE in 2014 and has become an exceptional leader, educator, and mentor. Her unwavering dedication to students and the Evansville community is evident through her leadership of the Chemistry ChangeLab, where she empowers students to create hands-on experiments and kits to spark excitement for STEM. These outreach efforts have impacted hundreds of local children and families through events like Chemistry Day at the Evansville Museum, Junior Achievement JobSpark, and programs within the Evansville Promise Neighborhood.

Beyond ChangeLab, Dr. Lampkins serves as Faculty Advisor for the Chemistry Club, where she organizes activities for foster youth, special needs students, and EVSC’s Academy of Science and Medicine. She also teaches in UE’s Journeys & Discoveries program, mentors new faculty, and serves on multiple committees, including the Scholarship Committee and University Judicial Board.

Her passion for service and education has earned her recognition as Emerging ChangeLab Coach of the Year by the Center for Innovation and Change. Through her vision, students gain real-world experience while inspiring the next generation of scientists.

Dr. Lampkins exemplifies UE’s mission of making a positive impact on the world. We are proud to honor her extraordinary service with the 2025 Berger Award!

Congratulations to Our 25-Year Service Award Honorees!

A proud UE alumna, she will retire in August after a remarkable career of service.

Susan has been a cornerstone of UE Libraries, supporting students as an Evening Supervisor for 22 years and later as a Library Associate/Supervisor. She earned multiple degrees while at UE and continues to inspire with her passion for learning, music, and service to the community.

Robert served as UE’s controller beginning in 1978 and later as Vice President for Fiscal Affairs and Administration. He even stepped in as interim athletics director during the 2001–02 academic year.
