Info You Should Know

* Welcome to Student Affairs - Ethan Jaworski - Esports Coordinator & Head Coach

The division of Student Affairs is proud to announce the newest member to our team – Ethan Jaworski – who will serve as the Esports Coordinator & Head Coach. We look forward to you getting to know Ethan in his new role.

"Greetings! My name is Ethan Jaworski (Jah-wor-ski) and I am the Head Coach & Coordinator for the University of Evansville's ESports team. I was born and raised right here in southern Indiana, with roots from Gibson County and Newburgh, IN where I attended Castle High School. Furthering my attachment to this area, I also attended the University of Evansville, where I studied Sports Communications and was the Team Captain of the Overwatch ESports team. During my tenure with the team, we found amazing success in just our first full year of competing during the 2024-25 academic year. We managed a 17-0 record, winning the NECC D8 Regional Championship in the fall and the NECC D8 National Championship in the spring.

Outside of work I like to spend my free time with my Alaskan Malamute, Penny, playing video games (shocker I know), lifting weights at BFit Gym and enjoying the blessings and presence of all of my amazing friends and family.

It is an absolute honor being able to lead this program that I was a part of since the beginning, and I cannot wait to see what the future holds for the University of Evansville's ESports team."

Please join us in giving Ethan a warm welcome to the UE team! Ethan can be contacted via email: ej107@evansville.edu or phone: 2580

* Emma McDonald transfer to UE softball program

EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The second signee under new University of Evansville head softball coach Bailey Dillender has been announced as Emma McDonald is transferring to UE following her freshman campaign at University of the Cumberlands.

Emma McDonald – Outfielder – Murfreesboro, Tenn.

After spending her freshman season at University of the Cumberlands, Emma McDonald makes the move with Coach Dillender to Evansville.  Named an MSC First Team All-Conference player in 2025, McDonald batted .384 with seven doubles and 26 RBIs in 46 games.  One of her top efforts came against Georgetown where she went 3-3 with two stolen bases.

In her time at Smyrna (Tenn.) High School, McDonald was a 2-time 2nd Team All-State player while earning three All-District accolades.  She completed her senior season batting .535 while finishing at .356 as a junior and .421 in her freshman campaign.

Coach Dillender on McDonald – “Emma was one of the best freshmen in the country last year at the NAIA level, she won the job in RF for us early in the season and really never looked back. She has so many tools offensively with her speed, high contact rates, and overall approach at the plate. While defensively her ability to track down balls and plus arm strength gives us immediate options to lock down some consistency in our OF play.”

* $100,000 Estate Gift from James and Marianna Vogel Establishes Scholarship to Benefit Future Aces

James Vogel '52 and Marianna (Cubbison) Vogel '52, devoted alumni whose lives were defined by generosity and service, have left a $100,000 estate gift to the University of Evansville (UE) to create the James and Marianna Vogel Endowed Scholarship.

Jim and Marianna, remembered for their warmth, humility, and commitment to helping others, shared 72 years of marriage and a belief that education transforms lives. Jim passed away in April 2025 and Marianna in June 2024, but their impact endures.

The scholarship will provide financial assistance to undergraduates with demonstrated need. This gift ensures future generations have the opportunity to learn, lead, and shape the world.

"Jim and Marianna Vogel truly embodied the spirit of compassion and leadership that defines the University of Evansville community," said Christopher M. Pietruszkiewicz, President of the University. "Their legacy is a powerful example of how generosity can open doors and inspire lasting change."

During their time at Evansville College, Jim earned a degree in Marketing, excelled as a varsity baseball player, and was an active member of Pi Epsilon Phi fraternity. After graduation, he co-founded Dale Sales Co., Inc., a successful distribution business serving five states, and served on the boards of Deaconess Hospital and Permanent Federal Savings Bank, demonstrating his entrepreneurial spirit and civic leadership. Marianna earned a degree in Music Education, helped establish the Chi Omega sorority chapter, and later shared her love of music as an educator in Evansville, where she taught music and English at Lodge Elementary School and Glenwood Elementary School. Their student experiences sparked a lifelong connection to UE, culminating in decades of involvement, advocacy, and philanthropy.

Jim and Marianna were longtime members of the John Collins Moore Society, which honors donors whose planned gifts sustain the University's mission. Their estate gift deepens that legacy, ensuring their values live on.

"This scholarship reflects the Vogels' belief in the potential of every student," said Abigail Werling, Vice President for University Advancement. "Their kindness and vision will lift up generations of Aces."
