The UE gardeners will sponsor another mini-farmers’-market Wednesday, June 27, in the lobby of Ridgway University Center.  This time the market will open AT noon!  If you have garden produce that you would be willing for us to sell, we will be happy to feature your food and then add proceeds to the gift that will go to Tri-State Food Bank (which just celebrated its 30th birthday last weekend). 

Would you like to go on one of the UE Alumni Cruises scheduled for 2013?  To join your fellow UE alumni on a cruise to the Western Caribbean or Alaska in 2013, simply make a $25 deposit per person to reserve your spot.  It is fully refundable should you need to change your plans.  The Western Caribbean cruise is set for March 31-April 7, 2013 and the Alaska cruise is planed for July 19-26, 2013

University of Evansville men’s and women’s swimming and diving head coach Rickey Perkins has announced former UE swimmer Alex Howard as assistant coach for the 2012-13 season.

“I am very excited about working with Alex and getting to know her in this new role,” said Perkins. “She brings a lot of eagerness and knowledge, and there is no doubt that she will help make our program better.”

Howard graduated in May after swimming four years for the Purple Aces. She received post-season honors after all four seasons, receiving all-conference honorable mention as a freshman and sophomore before being named to the All-Missouri Valley Conference first team her junior and senior years. Howard was twice named MVC Swimmer of the week and earned MVC Scholar-Athlete recognition three times. She set four UE records during the 2011-12 season, breaking her own record in the 100-backstroke while helping three UE relay teams beat the top times. 

“I'm so excited to continue my relationship with the University of Evansville swimming and diving teams,” said Howard. “This team has meant so much to me for the past four years, and I'm excited for the opportunity to contribute to the program in a new way.”

Howard served as assistant coach for South Dearborn Swimming for six years and has given group and private swimming lessons since 2006.
