University of Evansville cross country coach Don Walters has announced the signing of five student-athletes to run for the Purple Aces beginning next season.
Included in the class are Anessa Brosman, Elizabeth Kingshott and Laurel Wolfe on the women’s side as well as William McNicholas and James Paul on the men’s team.
Brosman comes to UE from Morganfield, Ky. where she ran for Union County High School. She ran cross country for four years while participating in track in three seasons. Brosman was named the Most Improved runner in 2008 while garnering Most Dedicated honors from 2009-11. Over her four years, she ran in regionals four times, with her top finish of third place coming in 2010.
Kingshott is a native of Ann Arbor, Mich., where she attended Brighton High School and participated in track and cross country, earning four letters in each. She earned numerous accolades in high school on her way to being a state qualifier in all four years of running cross country. Her top stats finish was 26th place in 2009. Her top 5K time (18:25) and 3200M time (11:23) were each run that season. Kingshott also qualified for the state meet in the 1600M with a time of 5:09.
Rounding out the women’s signees is Laurel Wolfe who comes to Evansville from Columbus, Ind. She spent the last four campaigns running at Columbus North High School where she earned All-Conference honors in 2009 and All-Regional awards in 2009 and 2012. Her top finish in cross country was a 10th at the IHSAA Regional while she placed fourth in track in the 1600 at her conference meet.
William McNicholas and James Paul are the additions to the men’s squad. McNicholas is a native of North Vernon, Ind. where he ran at Jennings Country High School. As a freshman, he was named the most improved runner while his track honors include awards for most improved and for having the best mental attitude. His best 5K time in high school as a 16:50.
James Paul wraps up the class. He is a native of Louisville, Ky. where he attended Saint Xavier and ran in cross country and track. Paul earned top honors in a 1600M quad meet while garnering a second and two third place finishes in various 5K events.
