* University Closed for July Fourth Holiday

The University of Evansville (UE) will be closed in observance of the July Fourth Holiday on both Monday, July 3, and Tuesday, July 4. All campus departments and buildings will be closed. Campus will reopen and resume normal operations on July 5.

* UE Virtual Benefits Landing Page

During the 2023 – 2024 open enrollment period, the Office of Human Resources introduced our new UE Benefits Landing Page. This page will remain active throughout the year as a quick, easy resource for all UE employee insurance benefit information. Outside of having all the relevant benefit summaries in one location to view and download, you will also enjoy the easy access of searching for providers within each individual benefit. * Employee Summer Healthy Behavior Challenge

Welcome to the Water You Waiting For? Challenge!

We all know how important it is to stay hydrated year-round, but especially in the summer months. This is a newer challenge here at Ascension St. Vincent Tri State Clinics to help make staying hydrated a little bit easier for you! It's designed to help make a daily habit of drinking enough water by challenging you to drink at least 64 oz (8 cups) daily for 6 weeks. Of course, we all require different amounts of water each day depending on our environment, how much we exercise, etc. Proper hydration is important for our bodies to function properly and adequately!

Each week, we’ll share tips and tricks to make drinking water a habit as well as the major health benefits to staying adequately hydrated. A printable water tracking calendar will be emailed to you before the challenge start date. However, feel free to make your own!

Earn a one-time $150 in HRA credits for completing the challenge! To make sure you receive your $150 credit, be sure to send your water tracker to Taylor at taylor.kollak@ascension.org at the end of the challenge. A reminder will be sent out as the challenge end date nears!

Prizes will be drawn at random out of those who submit their water trackers at the end. There will be four chances to win a $50 gift card!!

Employee & Spouse Summer Health Risk Assessments will take place July 17th - 19th from 7:00am -10:45am each day in Eykamp Room 253. Complete your health risk assessment and earn HRA credits. This health risk assessment is available for UE employees and their spouses on the UE medical insurance plan. Please remember, fasting 8-10 hours is recommended. Water and Black coffee are allowed. Changemaker Corner

* Take Changemaking Skills Assessment for a Chance to Win a Free Tablet

The Center for Innovation & Change would like to invite you to participate in a research study evaluating the impact of the Ashoka Changemaker Index™ (CMI) Assessment on students, faculty, and staff at educational institutions like ours. Your participation will help us understand and improve the CMI, and ultimately support our institution in fostering a culture of changemaking. The CMI survey takes 5-10 minutes to complete and will provide you with a snapshot of your changemaking skillset and opportunities for growth. This study is open to all members of our campus community, and one participant will be randomly selected to receive a free tablet from the Center for Innovation & Change. You must participate by Friday June 30th to be eligible for the prize.

Description of Work:
A contractor will conduct annual floor cleaning per the schedule listed below. If your building is not listed, it has already been cleaned or will be completed during Christmas Break. Facilities Maintenance Services technicians will move trash containers, recycling bins, chairs, and floor mats. A blue sticker will be placed on the office doorknob when work is finished.

Affected Dates and Buildings:
Sunday, July 2 through Thursday, August 10, 2023
Weeks of July 2 through July 17: Hyde Hall
Weeks of July 18 through July 27: Olmsted Hall
Week of July 30 through August 3: Ridgway University Center
Week of August 6 through August 10: Krannert Hall

Impact for Occupants:
There will be intermittent noise, vibrations, and non-toxic odors associated with this work.

Action(s) Required:

  • Remove any paper, boxes, and personal belongings from your office floor prior to the scheduled cleaning date.
  • Please allow time for the floor to dry prior to placing objects on the floor.
  • To have your research lab floors cleaned, contact the Facilities Service Center at 812-488-2775 prior to the scheduled cleaning date.

* Second USPS Postage Rate Hike Takes Effect July 9, 2023

Ready or not on July 9, 2023, postage rates are going up. This is the second USPS postage ate hike this year. For example, first class stamped letter size pieces will increase to $0.66 each from $0.63. For additional postage rates and prices, visit USPS online at https://www.usps.com/business/prices.htm.

* Order Textbooks Online and Skip the Lines

Did you know you can order your textbooks online ahead of time and skip the long in-store lines? Simply visit the bookstore online at evansville.bncollege.com, click on "Find Course Materials” under the “Course Materials & Textbooks” header, select your courses from the dropdown menus, and the website will pull a personalized list of Required and Recommended titles!

If you plan on renting any books, you will need to put in a credit card to secure the rental BUT you can pay a different way! Need to use your Book Loan before your Financial Aid is distributed? Have VA benefits? You can do use these AND rent! When it comes time to check out, make sure you follow the directions, putting in your credit card AND selecting the secondary form of payment as "Financial Aid: Student Account". When the order comes through, the appropriate account will be charged (nothing will be charged to the credit card unless you damage the books or don't bring them back at the end of the semester).

Please allow up to 72 hours for web order processing during the first 2 weeks of class. You will receive 2 emails: one confirming the order, the other letting you know when it is ready to pickup/has been shipped. Please wait for that second email before coming in to pick up your order. If you have decided to have your books shipped, the tracking number will be in that email. Please note that we do not begin to fulfill web orders until August 1st, so if you don't think they'll arrive before you leave for campus, please select "pickup in-store".

Find out you don’t need the book? You have one week from the start of classes to return the book for a full refund with the book in original condition and a copy of your receipt.

Dropped a class? Get a full refund if you return your book by September 29th, with proof that you dropped the course, the book in original condition, and a copy of your receipt.

Of course, if you don't feel comfortable ordering online, you're more than welcome to bring your schedule into the store (either printed or pulled up on your phone), we will pull your books at our back counter, and you can pay at the register. Remember, if you're renting, you need to have a credit card to secure the rentals, even if you're using a different form of payment!

* Community Puzzle

* New Fiscal Year Copy Code Transition

As of 6/13/23, new Xerox Satellite Copy Codes for FY23-24 have been distributed to Dept. Heads and uploaded into the Facilities, Carson Center, Hyde Hall, Olmstead, Fine Arts, Ridgway, Graves and SOBA copiers. The remaining production satellite copier in Koch is being scheduled in the near future to be updated. Watch for signage on the satellite copiers indicating the upload is completed. Reminder: FY22-23 Xerox Copy Codes are no longer valid, once new copy codes have been uploaded.

* White Printer Paper (Meteor)

Effective immediately, white paper (8.5" x 11" Letter, 20#, Meteor) for office printer use has been discontinued from the In-House Office Supply inventory. Departments may order white paper for office printer use via online by the carton (box) from Office Depot. While several options are available, the Office Depot Brand Business Multi-Use white paper is item # 6028288 and available 10 reams/carton for $39.99/carton.

Don’t forget to plan for the fall and order your letterhead, business cards, envelopes, and stationery through Marcom.

Visit the Marcom webpage to place an order. If you have never ordered through Marcom, you will be prompted to create an account.

Marcom will provide directions for ordering, create a proof to approve for your order, and also indicate how to enter your budget code for the request.

FIN 280 - Introduction to Personal Finance is now being offered this fall 2023 on MWF at 11:00 am. This class is generally only offered in the summer, so this is a great opportunity to take a class that is relevant to everyone and will benefit you all in the future!
