* Employee Parking Permits Available Beginning August 12

2020-2021 employee parking permit registration is now available on-line!

Parking Permits are available on-line. No need to walk to the Office of Public Safety, fill out any paperwork or wait in line for your permit!

How do I register for a Parking Permit?

You can register for your Parking Permit through the UE Self-Service portal https://selfservice.evansville.edu using your UE username and password. The Parking Permits link is under “UE Forms.” Click on the menu icon (upper left hand corner) > UE Forms > Employee > Parking Permits. If you need assistance with accessing self-service, please contact OTS help desk at (812) 488-2077.

How much does a Parking Permit cost and how do I pay for it?

Parking Permits are $50 and can be paid through a quick and easy on-line payroll deduction of $10 installments over five pay periods or by cash/check at the cashier window in Student Financial Services, Olmsted 105.

What is the process for applying and paying for a Parking Permit?

Employees will go to the appropriate link on UE Self-Service (see instructions above) and follow the processes for registering a vehicle. Once you have registered your vehicle and enrolled for payroll deduction, stop by the cashier window in Student Financial Services and pick up your Parking Permit. That’s all there is to it!

What if I don’t want to do payroll deduction?

If you opt to pay cash/check at Student Accounts, you will still need to register your vehicle on self-service. Then you will need to print out the registration confirmation sheet and take it to the cashier window in Student Financial Services. The cashier will take your payment, mark your confirmation sheet as paid, and issue your permit. Be advised: If you choose to pay cash/check, the process will take a little longer to prepare the transactions.

What if I am a President’s Club member or have a UE license plate - does that make a difference?

President’s Club members are asked to register their vehicles on-line simply for the purposes of being able to provide timely information in the event of an emergency (ie. Someone has damaged your vehicle and we need to notify you). President’s Club stickers will be distributed via the Office of Development upon confirmation of the donation.

Discounts for UE license plates are only valid if the plate is active at the time of permit registration. There are no discounts or refunds once the permit is assigned. The discounted fee for employees who have UE license plates is $25.

Where do I pick up my Permit?

Parking Permits will be distributed at Student Financial Services. We strongly encourage all employees to apply and pick up their Parking Permits Wednesday, August 12 thru Friday, August 21, 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. to avoid the rush of the distribution of Student Parking Permits.

If you have any questions concerning the application process, please contact the Office of Public Safety at 812-488-2051.

Upcoming Events

* Employees: Sign up for Purple Patrol this Fall!

The first Purple Friday of the Fall 2021 semester is coming up in just a few weeks on August 27! After a long break, we are excited to bring back our weekly Purple Patrol on campus and pass out goodies to those showing their school spirit. To do this, we need your help as a Purple Patroller!

If you would like to volunteer for a Purple Friday, please sign up here. There is one slot per week, and you may sign up your department/team or a small group of coworkers (please sign up for one spot only so everyone has a chance to participate!). Please be sure to include the names of all employees who will be helping. The more, the merrier! Note: We will not have Purple Patrol the week of Fall Break (November 12) or Thanksgiving (November 26).

When it’s your week to help, you will receive an email in advance with basic instructions. Purple goodies will be waiting for you on Friday morning in the Office of Marketing and Publications (top floor of the Schroeder Family School of Business Administration Building). There is no specific time or place to hand out these items; the only requirement is that the recipients are wearing purple!

If you have any questions about the sign-up or Purple Patrol, please contact Julie Bryant, university relations coordinator, at jb855@evansville.edu.

Info You Should Know

* HP06A Toner Cartridges

Does your printer use a HP Laserjet 06A toner cartridge? The Office of Alumni and Engagement has 3 for you. Please contact alumni@evansville.edu to make arrangements to pick them up.

First come, first served.

* President's Club Parking Decal Delivery This Week

purple box.

President's Club parking decals for 2021-2022 will be delivered to the offices of all on-campus members during the week of August 9. If you have questions or would like your decals (and some fun other goodies!) mailed, please contact Molli Duckworth at md105@evansville.edu.

* Order Textbooks Online and Skip the Lines

Did you know you can order your textbooks online ahead of time and skip the long in-store lines? Simply visit the bookstore online at evansville.bncollege.com, click on the "Textbook" header, select your courses from the dropdown menus, and the website will pull a personalized list of Required and Recommended titles!

Now if you plan on renting any books, you will need to put in a credit card to secure the rental BUT you can pay a different way! Are you an Athlete? On VA benefits? Or just need to use your Book Loan before your Financial Aid is distributed? You can do that AND rent! When it comes time to check out, make sure you follow the directions, putting in your credit card AND selecting the secondary form of payment as "Student Account". When the order comes through, the appropriate account will be charged (nothing will be charged to the credit card unless you don't bring them back at the end of the semester).

Not interested in renting? Then you don't need to put in a credit card at all if you're using a different form of payment! Have a Barnes and Noble giftcard? You can use that with us too! The only form of payment we do not accept are checks.

Please allow up to 72 hours for web order processing during the first 2 weeks of class. You will receive 2 emails: one confirming the order, the other to let you know what it is ready to pickup/has been shipped. Please wait for that second email before coming in to pick up your order. If you have decided to have your books shipped, the tracking number will be on that email.

Of course, if you don't feel comfortable ordering online, you're more than welcome to bring your schedule into the store and we will pull your books at our back counter and you can pay at the register. Remember, if you're renting, you need to have a credit card to secure the rentals, even if you're using a different form of payment.

Congratulations

* Dr Joyce Stamm Appointed Faculty Director of Sponsored Research and Special Projects

Dr. Joyce Stamm, Professor of Biology, has been appointed the first-ever Director of Sponsored Research and Special Projects. In this capacity, she will support faculty research and scholarship by advising and assisting with all aspects of grant seeking: identifying funding opportunities; developing and refining pre-proposals, letters of inquiry, and final proposals; and navigating the logistics and mechanics of grant submissions.

Dr. Stamm will also collaborate with other thought leaders to envision and develop special projects with strong potential to build on existing institutional strengths, attract extramural funding, and enhance enrollment. She will coordinate with relevant offices across campus, leveraging assets and expertise to improve the chances for success without duplicating efforts.

Dr. Stamm led the design, development, and writing of the two largest faculty-led grants in UE’s history. The NSF funded these grants in 2012 and 2019 for $610,600 and $1,074,838, respectively. The grants were a collaborative effort involving senior administrators in multiple campus offices and faculty from all four mathematics and natural science departments to support student success with scholarships and new curricular or co-curricular programs. Joyce is also the co-principal investigator on a $299,983 NSF-funded multi-institution genetics education research project and participated on the writing committees for two additional multi-institution education research proposals funded by the NSF and NIH for more than $4 million in 2019. In addition, over the past ten years, Joyce has served on numerous review panels for multiple programs at the NSF.

* Journey to Justice - Civil Rights Bus Tour

From the Journey to Justice Team (Center for DEI, Ethics and Social Change Program, and the Center for Innovation and Change), a special thanks to all of the campus members and offices that helped make the inaugural Social Justice Movements course and Journey to Justice experience a success.

Here is what some of the students said:

“I can honestly say this was one of the most memorable journeys I have ever been on.”

“I met a lot of great people. I made a lot of great friends, [who] have a drive to make a difference in the world just as I do.”

“Thank you for providing me with this opportunity, and I hope the J2J continues to grow in the future…. This week was a transformation for me…. This week showed me why and how we can push for equality and it put into perspective that change is in my grasp.”

“Tomorrow will officially mark the end of the course of journey to justice but the beginning of a life-time of Journeys to Justice.”

“I’m so glad to have gotten out of this trip my goal of filling the piece of history I always knew I was missing. But along with that, I made new friends and got to know others as well as I got to learn more about myself.”

“I think overall this class was such an awesome experience and I wouldn’t trade this for anything. I enjoyed every part between the meals, the talks we had, the museums we went to, and the memorials. I got to connect with people that taught me a lot too, and the lessons I learned will carry on with me.”

Please accept our deepest gratitude for your expertise, patience, partnership, and time. We could not have done it without you.
