The Office of Accounting/Payroll will be issuing W-2’s for 2015 no later than January 31, 2016. We are pleased to announce that you can choose one of two options to receive your W-2:
• Electronic W-2 – If you provide your consent, you will receive an e-mail notification via AceNotes Extra that your W-2 is ready to view/print on WebAdvisor.
• Paper W-2 – If you prefer, you can continue to receive a paper W-2 in the mail, as you have in the past.

Among the advantages of electronic W-2’s: (1) you will have access to your W-2 a couple days earlier than a paper copy that is mailed to your home (2) you can print as many copies of the W-2 as you need. The electronic W-2 is IRS compliant and can be submitted with your tax return.

To take advantage of the electronic W-2 option, you must log onto WebAdvisor and select the option “Employee Self Service”. Click the option “W-2 Information”. Click the “Change Preferences” button and then click the first radio button to give your consent. Then click “Save”. You will not receive a paper W-2 in the mail if you select the electronic W-2 option.

New this year, employees that are eligible to participate in the University’s health plans, will receive a 1095-C form. This form will be used to complete questions regarding health insurance offers and coverage on your 2015 tax return. Like the W-2 consent, the 1095-C form will need a consent as well. This is done by clicking on the “1095-C Information” tab (on the same screen as the W-2 Information option) and giving your consent.

If you choose to withhold your consent to view/print your online W-2 and 1095-C, a paper copy will be prepared and mailed to you at your home address.

Paul Parkison, chair of the School of Education, has an analysis of teacher preparation policies published in The Educational Forum’s January 2016 issue, Vol. 80, No. 1. The manuscript addresses the impact as state legislatures and non-education agencies become increasingly involved in legislating and standardizing the preparation of teachers. The model of teacher preparation that derives from these sources is framed using insights drawn from political economy to analyze teacher training within the theory of value chain governance. The theoretical structure of this economic framework is applied to the policy changes that are exemplified in the licensing and professionalization structure implemented by the Indiana Department of Education (IDOE) in the form of the Revisions for Educator Preparation and Accountability (REPA) beginning in 2013.

Riding a 6-game win streak, the University of Evansville men’s basketball team will face off against Wichita State on Wednesday evening at 7 p.m. in a game that will be carried live on ESPN3.

A 20-0 second-half run saw the Purple Aces pull away to take a 76-59 win at Missouri State on Saturday to improve to 2-0 in conference action.  Egidijus Mockevicius tied his career mark with 21 rebounds and stands at 1,000 for his career, just the third in UE history and 15th in the MVC record books to do so.  D.J. Balentine scored 19 points while Adam Wing hit 6 of his 7 attempts to tally 15.  Following the trip to Wichita, Evansville will have three of its next four games at home beginning with a 3 p.m. game versus Bradley on Saturday.

An unbelievable start to MVC play saw Mockevicius average 21.5 points and an 18.5 rebounds per game to lead the Purple Aces to a 2-0 start to its Valley season.  In the opener against Indiana State, Mockevicius drained 7 of his 10 shots on his way to 22 points.  He also grabbed 16 rebounds and blocked four Sycamore shots.  He followed that up with 21 points and 21 rebounds at Missouri State as he hit 1,000 for his career.

Fellow senior D.J. Balentine enters Wednesday’s tilt averaging 21.5 points per game, second in the conference.  Accurate shooting has also helped the Kokomo, Ind. product - over the last 9 games, Balentine has hit 44% of his shots or better, overall, he has drained 52.2% of his attempts over that span.

Adam Wing had a stellar outing at Missouri State, knocking down six of his seven attempts on his way to 15 points.  He has been shooting lights out this season and is fourth in the conference, hitting 56.8% of his shots.  Over the last 12 games, Wing is 38-of-61 from the field.

Preseason MVC favorite Wichita State enters Wednesday’s tilt with an 8-5 mark after defeating Bradley by a final of 85-58.  After starting the season at 2-4, the Shockers have won six of their last seven games, including wins over Utah, Nevada and UNLV.  The top scorer for WSU is Ron Baker, checking in at 15.1 points per game while Fred VanVleet is next up at 11.9.  VanVleet is shooting a team-best 43.8% from outside.  Anton Grady is the top rebounder on the squad with 5.4 per game; his efforts have helped the Shockers outrebound the opposition by 2.7 per game.

An energized effort saw Mockevicius do exactly what he needed, posting 21 on his way to becoming the 15th player in MVC history to record 1,000 caroms in his career. Mockevicius is also the only player in the nation to haul in 20 or more rebounds on two occasions this season, also recording 21 against Santa Clara.

Next up for the Aces is a trip to Wichita State to take on the Shockers on Wednesday evening at 7 p.m.

The available men's basketball games are against Bradley on Saturday, January 9, at 3:00 pm and Drake on Tuesday, January 12, at 7:00 pm.

The available women's basketball games are against Loyola on Friday, January 8, at 7:00 pm and Bradley on Sunday, January 10, at 1:00 pm.

Also, please remember that tickets for the Wichita State game on January 31 are going quickly, so faculty and staff are encouraged to pick up their tickets as soon as possible.

The Missouri Valley Conference and the Mountain West Conference have announced next season’s pairings for the Challenge Series between the two conferences. Nine of the 10 games will take place on the same date (Dec. 3, 2016). The agreement between the Mountain West and Missouri Valley conferences is in the second year of a four-year term.

Evansville, who earned an 85-77 win over Fresno State in this year’s series, will face Boise State on Saturday, December 3, 2016 at the Ford Center.

This year, the Mountain West Conference won the series, 6-4, with the final games being played this past Sunday. The MW has an all-time series edge of 3-1-1 in five previous Challenge seasons, which includes an overall advantage of 28-17 in games played in association with the series.

The Challenge Series features head-to-head competition between 10 Mountain West and 10 Missouri Valley teams annually, with each conference hosting five games apiece each season.

Annual matchups for teams in the Challenge Series will be based upon factors including the previous year’s achievements, records and RPI rankings, as well as projected rankings/strength of teams in the upcoming season, based on composite sources. Each season will be considered separately in terms of matchups, therefore, games from the previous year’s Challenge Series may not be returned.

Television rights for each Challenge Series contest will be controlled by the home team’s conference television agreement, which will dictate the distribution of the game and all related matters, including tip times.
