New mobile-friendly version of the UE website!
|
|
The office of digital media has created a new mobile-friendly version of the UE website. It will provide easier access on iOS and Android-based devices. You are also able to add a shortcut to the home screen of your phone to make it quicker as well.
For iOS devices (iPhone, iPod Touch, etc.)
1) Go to the UE website, www.evansville.edu, in the Safari browser
2) Click on the icon in the bottom center of the screen that has an up arrow on it
3) Click on “add to the home screen”
For Android-based devices
1) Go to the UE website, www.evansville.edu, in the Internet browser
2) Click on the menu icon (it looks like the symbol for a list)
3) Click on “add shortcut to home screen”
You can still access the search function and the full site navigation, by clicking on the words “University of Evansville” at the top of the screen.

Acettes Holiday Dance Clinic
|
|
The Acettes Holiday Dance Clinic is set for Friday, December 20 in the Small Gym in Carson Center. Registration will be from 5:30 to 6:00 p.m. and the clinic from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
On Saturday, December 21. the Acettes will perform at halftime of the men’s basketball game (University of Evansville Purple Aces vs. Butler Bulldogs) Game time is 2:05 pm at the Ford Center
Please RSVP to Coach Arata by December 16 as space is limited!
Registration fee of $30 includes dance clinic fee, child's ticket to men's Aces basketball game on December 21 vs. Butler, pizza party, and t-shirt. Kids of all ages welcome!

ACE Catalog Software Upgrade on Thursday, December 19
|
|
Libraries' ACE online catalog of resources will undergo a software upgrade on Thursday, December 19. As a result, access to ACE catalog will be intermittent throughout the day. Contact William Louden, University Librarian, with questions at 812.488.2376 or wflouden@evansville.edu.

Distribution Services Holiday Reminders
|
|
Since UE campus will be closed from Monday, December 23 through January 1, please note the following adjustments and plan accordingly. Regular Distribution Services’ operations will resume on Thursday, January 2.
Central Receiving
•Central Receiving will be accepting shipments on Friday, December 20 until 3:00 P.M. Packages will not be accepted after 3:00 P.M. Friday, December 20 through Tuesday, January 1.
•Central Receiving will not be making campus deliveries over the Christmas break.
•In-House Supply Orders received by 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 19, will be delivered on the Friday afternoon run. In-House Supply Orders received after 3:00 p.m. on Friday will be delivered on Thursday afternoon run, January
.Mail Services-The daily mail run will begin at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, December 20 as normally scheduled.
•All outgoing mail must be in Mail Services on Friday, December 20 no later than 2:00 p.m. to be mailed same day.
•The United States Post Office will be closed on Wednesday, December 25 and Wednesday, January Copy Services-Please plan your copy job requirements ahead of time to provide sufficient turn-around time as Copy Services will be closed over the break.

Douglas Stamps Named UE's 2013 Exemplary Teacher
|
|
Douglas Stamps, professor of mechanical engineering, has received this year’s Exemplary Teacher Award. Each year, the General Board of Higher Education and Ministry of the United Methodist Church presents the Exemplary Teacher Award to recognize excellence in teaching at United Methodist Church-related institutions of higher education.
Yesterday afternoon, UE President Thomas A. Kazee announced Stamps as this year’s recipient during UE’s Winter Commencement ceremony.
Stamps joined the UE faculty in 1995. His previous teaching honors include the Outstanding Teacher Award from the Illinois/Indiana section of the American Society for Engineering Education (2004), as well as UE’s Outstanding Teacher of the Year Award (2001) and the Dean’s Teaching Award for the College of Engineering and Computer Science (1998).
Before coming to UE, Stamps was senior staff member at Sandia National Laboratories in Albuquerque, New Mexico, specializing in the application of combustion hazards for the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission and Department of Energy.
Stamps holds a PhD in mechanical engineering from the University of Michigan, a Master of Science in mechanical engineering from Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and a Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering from the University of Evansville.

Keith Gehlhausen and Family
|
|
Condolences to Director of Human Resources Keith Gehlhausen on the death of his father, Richard “Dick” A. Gehlhausen of Dale, Indiana, He passed away Sunday, December 15, at Scenic Hills Care Center in Ferdinand. He was 68.
He was born July 31, 1945 in Evansville to Roy and Dorothy (Winiger) Gehlhausen. Richard married Joyce Dewig on June 15, 1968 in St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Haubstadt.
Richard is survived by his wife, Joyce; 2 sons, Keith Gehlhausen and wife Dorothy of Evansville and Jeffrey Gehlhausen of Montrose, CO; one brother Donald Gehlhausen; 3 grandchildren, Suzanne, Meg and Jon Gehlhausen. Richard was preceded in death by both parents.
Richard was retired from Leed Selling Tools Corp. He was a former member of the Army Reserves and Nativity Church Mens Club. He was an active Assistant Scout Master with Troop 312 in Evansville. Richard enjoyed fishing and camping.
Visitation will be Thursday from 4-8:00 p.m. EST and Friday from 8-9:30 a.m. EST at Becher Funeral Home in Ferdinand. Funeral services will be Friday at 10:00 a.m. EST in St. Ferdinand Catholic Church in Ferdinand. Memorial contributions can be made to Sisters of St. Benedict of a favorite charity. Condolences may be shared at www.becherfuneralhome.com.

Aces Host In-State Rival Butler Saturday
|
|
Your men’s basketball team is in action Saturday afternoon, December 21, for a 2:05 pm tip-off. The Aces take on in-state rival Butler at the Ford Center. The K-9 Crew Frisbee Dogs will be performing at halftime of Saturday’s game.
There are a limited number of tickets available for full-time faculty, staff and administration for Saturday’s game that can be picked up at the Carson Center this week. Students will be able to pick up their free ticket with their ID at the Carson Center this week also for Saturday’s game. The Carson Center Ticket Office will be open for normal business hours for the rest of this week.
Students can also earn rewards points for attending Aces home events and can use those reward points to claim prizes. These student rewards prizes include t-shirts, trucker hats, sunglasses, tumblers, hooded sweatshirts, and a grand prize drawing for a gift certificate to the campus bookstore and a gift card.
Come out and support the men’s basketball team Saturday afternoon at the Ford Center against the Bulldogs!
