Dear Members of the Campus Community,
I am writing to let you know that Dr. Gordon Kingsley, Principal of Harlaxton College, will retire effective July 1, 2014. For more than 10 years, Dr. Kingsley has led the Harlaxton program and helped to shape it as, in my estimation, the best study abroad program in the world. UE students, and those from our many partner institutions who have studied at Harlaxton, are transformed by their experience, and each has benefitted from Dr. Kingsley’s inspired and inspiring leadership. We will miss him greatly even as we wish him, and Suzanne, good fortune as they begin this next phase of their lives.
Dr. Kingsley has served as principal of Harlaxton College since January 2003. During his time as principal, he has integrated Harlaxton’s learning community to ensure that students’ classroom work, travels, and living in the manor house connect with local families and culture, creating a meaningful international experience for students. He has, moreover, done a superb job representing the University of Evansville in Great Britain and in the United States, and the substantial number of students from other colleges and universities who have participated in the Harlaxton program is further evidence of his success.
To name the next principal of Harlaxton College, a search committee will be appointed in the next several weeks according to established University procedures. The members of that committee will represent UE’s diverse constituencies, both in Evansville and Harlaxton.
Please join me in congratulating Dr. Kingsley on his retirement and thanking him for his service to Harlaxton College.
Sincerely,
Tom Kazee
President
